Summer In Review

summerinreviewAs the back-to-school chaos begins to die down a bit I wanted to take a moment to encourage everyone to sit down and think about this past summer. Grab some paper and a pen, open up your note-taking app, or print my super-simple Summer Review PDF.

What worked? What didn’t? It can be anything from products you wish you had stocked up on or schedule snafus.

I know that what worked really well for us this summer was front-loading our camps. I purposely scheduled any new camps and the ones that required more driving for the first half of the summer. For the second half, we did only two camps and they were ones that are close to home and more relaxed activity-wise. It ended up being a great way to wind-down our summer.

What didn’t work so well was preventing the summer slide. We were all exhausted at the end of June and giving my daughters some breathing room just felt right. However, by the time we got to the end of August, I was in a bit of a panic. I needn’t have worried, they seem to be doing fine in school, but I could’ve saved myself some grief by coming up with some plans ahead of time. Even if it’s just signing the girls up for another educational camp next summer. (My oldest did The Northshire Bookstore’s Page Turners Camp through the Arts Center this year and it was awesome!)

Overall, we had a great summer and I’m already adding notes to my Google calendar for next summer, so save those notes! It’s never too early to plan, and trust me, you’ll be thankful you did.

Thank you for reading and using this site, I hope to make it even MORE useful, so be sure to check back for updates!
