SESSION 1: June 23 – 26
The world is a rainbow of colors. We will start with the primary colors and discover the many ways we can mix them to create shades of each color, with paper and paint. A messy week of exploration!
SESSION 2: June 30 – July 3
Red, White and Blue
During the week we will prepare decorations and food for a special red, white and blue picnic on Friday. Each child will be able to bring their favorite stuffed animal or doll to our special picnic! We’ll be reading some picnic themed books and celebrating the USA.
SESSION 3: July 14 – July 17
Dr. Seuss is on the Loose
Young readers will enjoy a week of rhyming. Silly and real words fill his books and teach the importance of pattern in our language. We’ll incorporate other authors who love to rhyme, like Mary Ann Hoberman.
SESSION 4: July 21 – 24
We’ll read a few versions of the classics – The Three Bears, The Three Pigs, The Little Red Hen, and The Tortoise and The Hare. We’ll role play and retell the stories through play and art. There is sure to be a lot of discussion about the characters and stories.
SESSION 5: July 28 – 31
Our fine-feathered friends are fascinating! What characteristics and features are unique to birds? How do birds help people? How can we help birds? We’ll read books about birds, both real and imaginary.
SESSION 6: August 4 – 7
Let’s explore boats! What types of boats are there? Where do we use boats? What are boats used for? We’ll experiment with a variety of materials to construct our own boats. Will your boat float?
SESSION 7: August 11 – 14
The Art of Trees
The tree form can be wonderfully simple or very complex. We’ll explode with tree art this week. We will have your young artist drawing, painting, constructing trees from a variety of mediums. We’ll use tree parts to make unique works of art.
SESSSION 8: August 25 – 28
Rocks, wood, shells, sticks, and more will be our props for exploration this week. Bring your imagination!
